2019

September. Meeting with the headquarter and talking with colleagues about the project; searching for another English teacher to take part in the project

October. Publishing an article about the project on the school homepage; contacting the local newspaper to publish an article about the project in order to reach local community

2020

January. Preparing for  Episode II by running an elective project course titled “Human Dignity & Freedom”; studying film literacy, learning English, watching the film (Wonder) and writing film reviews

February. Continuing with before Episode II activities; focusing on  the topic of human dignity in the light of European refugee crisis; studying the basics of (classroom) debate; learning to create effective debate speeches;  assisting C.E. Rivas Luna with  preparations for the upcoming transnational event

March. Disseminating the outcomes of Episode II; implementing classroom debate activities in language instruction.

April. Students writing their blogposts about the exchange in Spain. Teachers getting in touch with the European Parliament for a visit for the next exchange and organising further activities.

May. Teacher preparing for the mid-time evaluation. Students creating their ePortfolio.

June. Teachers preparing the next exchanges and documents (risk management and a summary about “Deep work” by Cal Newport). Partners holding a videoconference due to the coronavirus

July. Creating content for the project’s website. Video conference to discuss the continuation of our project. Preparation and presentation about “Shallow work – Deep work” by Cal Newport

August. Working  on teacher e-portfolios. Preparation of the new schoolyear. Consolidation

September.  Participating in a webinar on Erasmus+ strategic partnerships in the context of Covid-19 pandemic; sharing  information with partners; holding a Microsoft Teams meeting. Generating new content related to language with film and content with language activities. Working on teacher e-portfolios

October.  A presentation on this project made at EATE autumn seminars “Teaching Makes a Difference” in Tallinn and Tartu made by the coordinator Triin Lingiene; the first reusable pedagogical resource “Human Dignity and Freedom”  being adapted for a Moodle course

November.  Starting the second  Erasmus+ project course (CLIL and blended learning)  for year 11 students; adding content to the project’s website. Preparing for the mid-term evaluation. Composition of a blogpost (about “Shallow work – Deep work” by Cal Newport).

December.  Generating content for a reusable pedagogical resource on the rule of law and human rights. Students writing their exams. Elaboration of a student’s VLOG about Episode II in Valencia. Teacher generating a video for the project.

2021

January. Maria-Goretti-Sekundarschule is taught online because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Teachers and students start to enhance their digital skills as there is no possibility to meet in real life.

Participation in an advanced training about MS Teams (webinar). Elaboration of a video to present our school.

February. Maria-Goretti-Sekundarschule is taught online because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We meet with our partners to discuss the continuation of the project and to exchange about experiences with online teaching.

Studying European values and creating a presentation on liberal values.

March. Maria-Goretti-Sekundarschule is taught online. Some classes about intercultural competences have been scheduled. Students learn about theories from intercultural experts such as Edward T.Hall, Geert Hofstede and Fons Trompenaars. Students work as pairs and present an analysis about a chosen country (cultural dimensions – Geert Hofstede).

April. Maria-Goretti-Sekundarschule starts to be taught physically again, but only in a hybrid system. Unfortunately, we got to know that our German partners will leave the project. Content on liberal values and a video have been submitted.

May. Students are still taught part-time online at Maria-Goretti-Sekundarschule. They take place in a virtual meeting about starting a business. As we will learn later, such knowledge can be a solution to precarious situations such as created by the refugee crisis.

June. We hold an online meeting with our partner-schools from Estonia, Denmark, and Spain. We agree upon the continuation of the project. One of our main topics, film literacy, will be taught through two movies: Wonder and Blinded by the lights.

July. Preparation and dissemination activities to prepare the incoming exchanges of the next school year.

August. Preparation and dissemination activities to prepare the incoming exchanges of the next school year. Especially, preparing the upcoming teacher exchange in Brussels, Belgium.

September. Preparation of our teachers exchange in BRUSSELS, Belgium. We welcome at our school some guest speaker who talk about “Fake News”. The main goal are to enhance students’ knowledge about democracy.

October. Teachers meeting in Brussels, Belgium. European Parliamentarian Pascal Arimont welcomes us in the EU parliament and talks with us about his work and current topics. One week later, Belgian students visit the European Parliament again and got to know Pascal Arimont as well.

November. Working on reusable resources, starting to prepare students for their exchanges, enhancing their knowledge about film literacy.

Participation in the musical “1945” in Eupen. Students learn about the second world war through staging. It was a really interesting and lively experience for them.

December. School exams, dissemination activities.

2022

January. Preparing for the student exchange in Denmark.

February. Students writing their reviews (Blinded by the light) and learning about EU institutions and functioning.

March. After 2 years of pandemic, we are finally allowed to travel with our students again and we attend the exchange in Varde, Denmark. We participate on workshops to the rule of law, film literacy and ICT.

April. Preparing for the student exchange in Belgium. Students writing their reviews (Keeping Mum).

May. Preparing for the student exchange in Belgium. Finally, we are able to hold our exchange in Sankt Vith. We attend different workshops on eTwinning, Europass, humanity and democracy and film literacy.
